Smalltalk with Smallbox
Talking to the Norwegian Designer Anna Maria Ofstedal Eng
We’re launching a new travel podcast, “SMALLTALK WITH SMALLBOX,” where we head out to meet creative people all over the world and talk to them about their own creative journeys. The first episode takes us on a trip to Fjellhamar outside Oslo, where we visited Norwegian designer Anna Ofstedal Eng. Listen to the podcast and let yourself be swept away by the photos from our trip.
Back to Print
We are launching Smallbox Magazine as a print magazine. The first issue will be unveiled at the Skøyen Design Festival on September 4–5, 2026. We believe the time is right to take a step back and rediscover the magic of the print magazine. The experience of flipping through the pages, feeling the scent of the paper, and letting yourself be captivated by the various stories—completely undisturbed by the digital world—is something we believe offers a moment of calm. It makes everything else pause for a second. We think it’s important to make room for these small moments of stillness in everyday life.
The Photographers Eye
For decades, photographer Espen Grønli has been capturing designers and architects from around the world through his lens. His photographs bear witness to the connection he forges with his subjects and reflect not only his photographic skills but also his understanding of and insight into how the creative process works.
Walk the Doodletalk
It took a while for interior architect and product designer Frida C. Midttun Finnerud to bring herself to scale down Doodlewalk, but she is now introducing the follow-up, Doodletalk.
“With large objects, you become part of them, whereas with small objects, you remain, in a way, on the outside,” says Frida when we met her in her Oslo-apatment.
